One 14-year-old boy was found dead just days after being falsely blamed of taking the cremated remains of a dead baby during a burglary, an inquest has heard.

Heartbreaking Discovery

Kai Lloyd's mother and father discovered his remains in his bedroom at his Connah's Quay home on November 19th, 2021.

False Accusations Begin

The investigation learned how his parent received a message on November 8th, 2021 via social media, from a individual asking if Kai was her offspring. The communication added: "Tell him thanks for burgling my apartment."

In a statement presented to the court, the mother said the woman had been in the news, asserting her infant's remains had been stolen in a break-in - a allegation which was false.

Law Enforcement Inquiry

An official inquiry from police later determined the alleged burglary complainant had "lied to police" and "it now appears that said property was never taken in the beginning".

Media reports about the supposed taken remains attracted online comments, and although the teenager was not identified in the messages, his mother said people "understood it was him".

The "online posts were extremely distressing", she said.

Emotional Wellbeing Impact

She added that Kai had been identified with mild ADHD, and as part of that disorder, other peoples' views really were important to him.

"It would have hurt him deeply," she commented, "especially when this was untrue".

Kai was detained at his residence, but nothing was found. He was taken to a police station and later released pending further inquiry.

Police said they would be in contact, the hearing heard, but had failed to contacted the family by the time of his death.

Isolation and Worry

His mother said her son "withdrew into himself" after the detention and "would keep asking me whether I had received anything from the police", because his ADHD meant sometimes "certain periods could feel like days".

When she spoke to him about the supposed incident, she said her son told her he had gone into the residence because the resident who resided there had said he could utilize the bathroom anytime he wanted, but refuted removing anything.

Digital Harassment

In a joint statement between her and her husband, Mrs Lloyd said her child was being bullied digitally after the allegations.

The inquest heard that one young adult urged the teenager to kill himself.

She had no worries on the night before he died, explaining how she had listened to him "laughing and teasing".

She portrayed him as a "caring, loving" boy, and said her "family is completely devastated".

He had been "obviously concealing his worries", she stated, noting that he could not stand to have anybody "think bad of him".

Educational Reaction

The inquest received testimony from school personnel at the local High School.

On 8 November, she "heard some students talking that Kai had been detained and that was the first I heard".

"He informed me... he'd done nothing wrong," she added.

After the discussion, the educator said she rang the family's family telephone and left a message saying she had spoken to Kai about the allegations.

The proceedings learned his parents said they never got that message.

Official Finding

Lead coroner informed the hearing he would await documents regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with individuals with the condition, before deciding whether he should make a prevention of future fatalities report.

Delivering a descriptive conclusion, he stated: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated allegations were made against the teenager, a young child.

"Probably falsehoods were subsequently exaggerated and exaggerated through the platform of social media.

"During 11 November, he was interviewed by the police and following his interview he was freed whilst investigations proceeded."

The official concluded: "There is no proof that the acts or omissions of any organization caused or added to his death and although it was the outcome of a personal act it is not possible to determine his purpose."
